Do you treat anything other than horses?
No, our practice is exclusively for equids- all breeds of horses, donkeys, mules, and the occasional zebra. Note: we do not treat goats, pigs, cattle, dogs, cats, or any species other than equine!
Do you accept emergencies?
Yes! We have a veterinarian on call 24/7 for emergencies at our facility. Emergency farm visits are subject to veterinarian availability.
What is your ambulatory call area?
Our ambulatory / farm visits are limited to Rio Verde, North Scottsdale, and Cave Creek. Appointments in Phoenix, Central Scottsdale, Desert Hills, and Goldfield Ranch are limited and dependent upon veterinarian availability.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Requesting an appointment is easy. Give us a call at (480) 998-9460 and our office staff will help you schedule an appointment for your horse.
What are your hours of operation? Do you offer weekend appointments?
Our office is open Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm (except major holidays). Our office is closed and we do not schedule appointments on weekends. Outside of office hours, we have a veterinarian on call to provide emergency services.

What makes Southwest Equine different from other equine clinics?
We are privately owned and operated, and managed by an internal medicine specialist with very exacting standards for attention to detail and patient care. We prioritize tailoring treatment programs to each individual horse/owner and do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach.
What is your ambulatory call area?
Our ambulatory / farm visits are limited to North Scottsdale, Cave Creek and Rio Verde. For horses that are outside our call area we offer haul-in services at our facility.
Do you offer boarding facilities?
We are currently ambulatory-only while our new hospital is being constructed. We will provide medical services for horses that need intensive care at select local boarding and training facilities in Rio Verde or we will refer them to other veterinary clinics
What types of payment methods do you accept?
We accept multiple payment methods, including major credit cards, cash, checks, and Zelle. We do not directly bill insurance companies. Payment is due at the time of service and a deposit is required for all horses that remain in the hospital for treatment.
Do you offer payment plans or delayed billing?
We accept cash, checks, Zelle, major credit cards (Visa, MC, AmEx, Discover), and Care Credit. We do require payment in full at the time of service and do not offer payment plans or delayed billing.
